Custom Mode in Tower Realm
Replay the same map with twisted numbers, after you can explain the original route.
Custom Mode is Tower Realm’s post-clear toy. The store says a finish grants points you can spend to adjust challenge conditions, enemy attributes, and the feel of a stage. That sentence is the whole contract. It is not a second campaign, not a battle pass, and not a way to skip Destined Melody.
Unlock it by completing a tower the normal way. Green Key and hardcore both count as finishes for points; the Green Key page and the hardcore page explain the difference in supplies, not in whether Custom Mode exists. If you cannot yet explain why the Floor 3 sword matters, spend the points later.
Make a save folder first
Patch 1.0.6 fixed a bug where Custom Mode could not save if you entered a magic tower without a save folder. The practical habit is boring and correct: open the tower, write a normal save, then start the custom challenge. If a custom run vanishes, read troubleshooting before you assume the engine ate your route. Cloud still needs a file to upload.
What you are allowed to twist
Official copy mentions enemy attributes and challenge conditions. Treat that as ATK, DEF, HP, and extra rules the menu actually shows. Do not invent a slider that deletes keys or randomizes the map. The collection’s pitch is fixed maps. Custom Mode is supposed to keep the floor plan and change the arithmetic. If a menu offers something that looks like a randomizer, read the line twice. A random map would contradict every other page on this wiki.
Use the combat calculator after every slider. A monster that was free at 10 ATK is illegal at 40 DEF. Custom Mode is how you learn why breakpoints exist. It is a poor first teacher, because you will not know which number you broke.
A sane first custom run
- Clear Destined Melody on standard rules.
- Write a save at the entrance.
- Raise one enemy family, not all of them.
- Recalculate the red bat and the first shop.
- Stop if you are out of keys for the stair path — custom HP will not print yellow keys.
That run teaches the same lesson as combat and routing: optional rooms get more expensive when numbers move. If you instead max every slider for a joke, you will learn that illegal fights still deal zero. You already knew that.
What Custom Mode is not for
It is not a patch for a tower you do not understand. If System Cultivating’s extra rules are confusing, play a Green Key teaching run, take notes, then reset. Twisting DEF will not explain a cultivation menu.
It is not a substitute for DLC. Rhythm Cultivation and A Thousand Towers Journey are other maps. Custom Mode replays a map you already own.
It is not an excuse to ignore the handbook. Open the handbook guide even when you set the numbers yourself. First-strike and regen still exist.
Points and patience
The store does not publish a public price list for each slider. Spend conservatively on the first custom file. If a challenge is miserable, you can usually start another with a different mix — after you have a save folder. Do not dump every point into one cruel file and then complain the homage is unfair. You asked for unfair.
Community length on Steam already includes people who treated the launcher as a time sink. Custom Mode is how a 60-floor homage becomes a weekend. It is also how you burn an evening on a bat you made immortal. Set a clock.
After you are done twisting
Go back to a standard clear of The Saga of Tower or System Cultivating so the original table is still in your hands. Then decide whether DLC length is for you via the review. Official custom-mode art on this page is a local Steam screenshot, not a decorative SVG. Keep Getting started Cloud checks; a custom file that never synced is indistinguishable from a bug you already patched.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Tower Realm questions.
Do I need the Green Key to unlock Custom Mode?
No. Any clear that awards points unlocks it. Green Key and hardcore both count. Learn the standard route first.
Why did my custom run not save?
1.0.6 fixed missing save folders. Create a normal in-tower save, then start the custom challenge.
Does Custom Mode randomize the map?
The store describes changing enemy attributes and challenge conditions on the same Magic Tower formula. Do not expect a random floor plan.
